Wilson Parent Teacher Association

(PTA) and Neighborhood Support
Wilson has a very active PTA. The PTA committees coordinate classroom assistants, school newsletters, special programs and events, fund-raisers, Wilson sports teams, and maintenance and improvements for the building and grounds. The PTA also raises money to enable teachers to purchase educational items for the classroom. In recent years, Wilson School has received tremendous support from the neighborhood organizations and the PTA. These improvements and events include:

• New playground

• New street lighting

• New carpeting and desks

• School marquee

• New trees, landscaping, and sprinkler system

• Christmas in April improvements to the school

• “Fools for Art” art auction. The money raised from this neighborhood event has provided arts integration training for teachers and supported our participation in the annual Kennedy Center Partnership meeting; It has also provided artwork, books, and music CD’s for use by the arts specialists and classroom teachers.

• ArtForce – painting of murals in school hallways.
